No to New Year's Resolutions!!!

Good morning every one and most importantly, Happy New Year!! I hope you all stuffed your faces, drank too much, and had a lovely holiday season with your loved ones. Unfortunately for some of us that chill vacay mode is officially over today…boo hoo!! Offices that were closed for the last two weeks are now open again and of course, every parent’s favorite end to the holiday season, the kids are back to school!! Ah, Miami traffic, we meet again!! Yikes!!

Anyway, I want to talk about new year’s resolutions. Everyone makes them, but does everyone really stick to them?? Nope. I’ll tell you why. New Year’s resolutions are a cliché and just another way for us to give into today’s "society expectations". It’s a fad that everyone wants to fit in with that only lasts for two months, maybe three.

You know that if you go to any gym during the month of January you won’t even be able to walk! It’s absurd the amount of people that are suddenly into fitness, isn’t it? Don’t get me wrong, I’m ALL for bettering oneself but come on, be realistic. Don’t follow the crowd just because you think it’s the cool thing to do. The cool thing to do is to do you and not care what anyone thinks or has to say!!

Instead of having a “new year’s resolution” set goals for yourself. Set short term and long term goals. Make a vision board. Write your goals down every day. If you want to lose weight, do it for health reasons. Set a goal to be more conscious of what you put into your body. If you want to be more active, start off small and set a goal to walk 15 minutes every day. If you want to be more organized, buy yourself a planner and use it!

Whatever it is that you want to accomplish, shouldn’t be enforced only on January 1st. Yes, it’s great that everyone suddenly has the motivation to be better and do better, but honestly, you should always want to do better. Keep that same motivation and stamina and focus on yourself year round! Whether it’s January 1st or June 1st, place your energy on being a better mom, a better dad, a better friend, a better sister, a better husband, a better girlfriend/wife…a better human being.

Ditch the “new year’s resolution” and don’t set yourself up for failure with unrealistic “new year’s resolutions” that you know you’re not going to see through. So none of that “new year, new me” isshhh! Set realistic goals for yourself and just be the best version of yourselves that you can be ALL the time!!

Have a fabulous, happy, healthy, and prosperous 2019!!
